Asking Good Questions

Good readers know that asking questions helps them understand the text a whole lot better. The strongest readers ask the most questions! Asking questions helps readers to focus on parts that are hard to understand, stay interested in their reading, and better understand what they read.
Readers ask questions before, during, and after they read. Some questions can be answered from the story, and some questions can be answered by using background knowledge to make an inference.

I wonder ...
Why ...
How is (a character) feeling ... I’m not sure why ...
How come ...
I’m confused about

Read chapters 66-71   develop and answer 6 good questions make sure they are a variety of types of questions, I.e., straight from the text and inference. Make sure to answer with your point of view.

Week Round Up

It has been a busy week. Unfortunately I came down with a sinus infection that kept me away for a couple days. Today, Haley did a fantastic job representing our class in the grade 7 speech contest. She presented a well written speech on sprinter Marion Jones and her struggles with PED's. I am very proud of Haley's efforts even tho she was under the weather.

We have been talking about performance enhancing drugs in professional sports and are writing our pro and con writing piece on the topic. The rough copies are due Tuesday by the way.

In math we tarted algebra and the students of 7 M are coming along quite well. Watch out for a quiz next week. Remember, to solve for the variable we must first isolate by using the opposite operation. Remember what ever you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other.

Finally, I would like to welcome Marina to our class. I'm sure she will fit right in.

Remember tomorrow is Carnaval, wear your red, black and white!
